Renovated municipal park reopens with walking track and children's play area

The municipal park near the old water works reopened to the public on Wednesday after a four-month renovation. The park now has a 600-metre paver-block walking track, new lawns, solar lights and a fenced children's play area with slides, swings and a sand pit. Morning walkers had long asked for a safe track away from traffic, and more than 300 people used it on the first day alone. Drinking water points and separate toilets for men and women have also been added. The park is open from 5:30 am to 9 am and from 4 pm to 8 pm. Entry is free. Visitors are requested not to bring plastic carry bags and to use the dustbins placed along the track. A residents' committee will help the municipality maintain the lawns and report any damage to the play equipment.
