Traffic plan for the Deepavali shopping rush on bazaar streets from Friday

With Deepavali shopping picking up, a special traffic arrangement will be in force on Gandhi Road and the adjoining bazaar streets every evening from Friday until the festival, the traffic police said. Between 4 pm and 10 pm, four-wheelers will not be allowed into the textile and jewellery bazaar lanes, and on-street parking on Gandhi Road will be restricted. Temporary parking for cars has been arranged at the municipal school ground, and two-wheeler parking at the weekly market ground and near the bus stand. Goods vehicles may unload at shops only before 10 am. Extra police personnel and volunteers will be posted at major junctions, and the police help desk near the bus stand will also assist with lost belongings and missing children. Shoppers are urged to use the designated parking areas, keep their valuables safe and follow the volunteers' directions to keep the crowd moving smoothly.
