Silk weavers' cooperative opens Deepavali sale with up to 30% rebate

The town's silk weavers' cooperative society has opened its Deepavali sale with a rebate of up to 30 per cent on handwoven silk sarees, silk dhotis and soft-silk sarees woven by its member weavers in and around Rasipuram. More than 2,500 sarees in new designs are on display, including temple-border, checked and korvai styles in traditional colours such as arakku red, peacock blue and mango yellow. Prices start at ₹4,800 for soft-silk sarees and go up to ₹38,000 for heavy zari wedding silks. Every saree carries the society's quality tag, and customers can also order sarees in custom colours, with delivery in three to four weeks. The sale counter is open from 9 am to 9 pm on all days, including Sundays, until the festival. Office-bearers said the sale supports the livelihood of over 600 weaver families, and urged buyers to choose handloom silk this festive season.
