Golu doll exhibition-cum-sale draws families during Navaratri

விளம்பரம் · SponsoredA Navaratri golu doll exhibition-cum-sale at Thirumagal Mahal on Salem Road is drawing steady crowds of families this week. More than 3,000 clay and papier-mache dolls made by artisans from different parts of Tamil Nadu are on display, arranged on tiered golu steps.
Popular sets this year include village fair scenes, wedding processions, temple festival sets and miniature kitchen utensils. Single dolls start at ₹60, while complete theme sets are priced between ₹1,500 and ₹6,500.
Organisers said eco-friendly dolls made from clay and natural colours are seeing higher demand, and many buyers add a new set to their family golu every year. Brass lamps, golu step frames and decorative cloth are also available at the venue.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm until Vijayadashami. Entry is free.
